Exploring Art Materials and Ecology at the Community Garden
We were invited by Helen Omand to participate in art workshops at the Community Garden, using art, found objects and natural materials to express feelings about earth, nature and our changing world. Helen is an art therapist and is conducting a research project as part of a UCL study into how creative activity helps express feelings related to ecology and climate concerns. Helen noticed that many of our studio members’ artworks are about nature. The workshop sparked interesting dialogue and raised questions, concerns, and curiosity about our shared future.
Nature is my religion and is the most important thing in my life and it should be in everyone’s life. This topic was very interesting to me and I will carry on making art about it in my own time.
The times are hard everywhere and the garden was so beautiful and welcoming to everyone. I enjoyed conversations and being there with everyone.
